Burst of Updates

Alright, I’m working on adding gforum.templeofandrex.com today. It won’t just be about the GForum Show, but more about all of my works for the G4 Forums. I updated the Currently section on the right to be compatible with smaller browsers, and I will be working on making all the lists in the Profile and Links page table-ized like the Chat page. While this is generally considered to be bad HTML, I won’t be using borders and it is not deprecated under XHTML 1.0 transitional. In my next update, which I hope to do soon, I’ll be adding the first and second quarter 2007 archives and making it much more Wii-friendly. Also, the Chat box seems to be very popular. I’m seriously considering upgrading for $20 a year to have more smileys, IP banning, and to remove the 60-messages-total-an-hour restriction. We’ll see.

Patching and Pownce

I’m patching a few more things and making minor edits, such as making update dates full headers, and generally spreading the header status throughout the site, plus I’m adding my Pownce address to Profile. Currently, this site has very poor Wii browser support. :( I’ll work on fixing that soon. In the meantime, the Chat page has been remodeled so as not to have two chat boxes on the same page. More updates and additions of actual content are not far off.

Version 4 Launched

Never thought this day would come, did you? :P Correct! The Temple of Andrex is officially in version four, after almost a month of very hard and tedious work. You have no idea how hard it was putting this all together. First, I had to buy a new host and domain name without a credit card. Second, I had to start completely from scratch; there is no content or code that is copied from the previous Temple at all, except for the archives. Third, I had to make sure it rendered correctly in the big three browsers, (Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera). Lastly, it had to be valid, which was not easy since this version uses iframes. And this is all without mentioning the nice little frills such as the chat box on the right, the RSS feed, and the template itself, which I’ve tried to make as Wii- and iPhone-compatible as possible. I don’t have an iPhone so I can’t test that, so drop me a line if you do with comments on how it turns out. The status bar on the right indicates that version four is only 80% done, why? Three reasons; even though I have completed all you see here, I have yet to make the G4 forum subsite that will house all my G4 forum-related works, and the PoweredByAndrex subsite that will link to all my websites. I also have yet to impliment the feature that will let you switch to previous Temple designs, but that may never come. Currently, the PBA logo at the bottom right does not link anywhere, I’d like to change that. However, barring those extras that don’t have anything to do with the actual Temple of Andrex, this place is fully complete, and 100% brand-new. As I mentioned, everything from the look to the feel has been created from scratch completely by me, except the chat code. That was one of the things that annoyed me about the last design, I didn’t make it.

This website is the ultimate culmination of all my previous designs and my new XHTML/CSS skills. Why?

It’s all come together under this new version, by far the best thing I have ever created. But most of all, I hope it benefits you, because if it doesn’t, then all of this work was wasted. This new version also lends it self pretty nicely to updating more fequently, and since I am now using an FTP program to update, I can also do it offline and upload it all later. With the new RSS feed, you can catch all the updates without ever coming back to the site! :Q That may not seem like something to brag about, but my website from the start has always been staunchly against solicitation of every form. And now that I’m finally off Freewebs, I can get rid of the linkback to them as well. I do have the little buttons to the right, but those are purely to display what this website is about. It’s XHTML- and CSS-valid, it’s made and maintained with just Notepad, Paint, and Windows XP, I’m against having “www.” in addresses, I use Opera (but it’s designed for all browsers), you can subscribe to my RSS feed, I’m Christian and may make references to it, and I’ve given you several ways of contacting me, either through AIM or e-mail. I love this site, and I hope you will too. :)
